Restarting to blog

For the past 2 months I've felt so bored with my life that i kept on thinking of what to do so i can get myself out of that boredom period. i would work on weekdays and sometimes on weekend and come my rest day i wont remember doing something worthy. all i know is that i would wake up late, go to church on Sunday, eat and cook. oh yeah  i do cook and do lots of baking! and that's when i realize that cooking is my only getaway from all the miseries of my not-so interesting life. its my stress reliever, my tranquilizer and my source of inner happiness.

So two weeks later, i decided to get a new cookbook and decided that from then on i will try each and every single recipe come rest day  ere's my new book called Mastering the Art of Baking by Anneka Manning.

As excited as I am i tried one of the recipe right away. so here's what i did, the basic white bread;

Preparing the ingredients..(forgive me for the messy table, im just so excited to try this recipe);-)

as the recipe says the ingredients were just the basic ones, flour, yeast, sugar and salt, butter, milk and water

ingredients all mixed up, let it stand for an hour until it doubled its size, bake if for 40mins at 350-400degress

and here's the finished product!..:D

The verdict: texture is fine, you can sort of smell the yeast on the bread and it's a little bit bland. i dont know if there's something wrong with my ingredients or if i measured it correctly because i have to admit sometimes i dont follow the recipe religiously;). maybe i'll try to redo it next time and compare the results.:)

P.S.
Please forgive my poor choices of words for I am not that good in writing, i just write whatever random stuff comes across my mind. But i'll try to read some articles on how to be a good writer so as my next blog would be interesting enough to read.:)

My very own deep fried chocolate…

Inspired by the growing market of deep fried desserts and stuffs i decided to try and make my own version. Since most of the ingredients are available in the fridge and baking is my bread and butter, it just took me less than 15mins to make this. And being the first try of my experimental cooking, it doesnt turn out bad, in fact it turned out to be just perfect for my taste bud, its crispy yet soft outside and gooey chocolatey inside, it just melts in ur mouth! :)

so here are the things you need to do it:

1 cup all purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 cup white sugar
1 medium sized egg
1/3 cup water
2 tbsp vegetable oil

1-1.5 cups cooking oil(for frying)

a handful of chocolate bars..mars, aero, snickers or whatever is available

Mix everything with a hand mixer or with a whisk, grab your chocolate bars, dip it into the batter and deep fry it for approximately 20-35sec depending on the size of your chocolate.

and there you go, deep fried chocolate bars a la ann..:)

superb lunch! **burp** :)

its time to turn these..
 into something like this...

tanann!!:P

so it was past ten in the morning and my stomach is reminding me to get something to eat. i was thinking of a simple yet full packed meal so i immediately go downstairs and had a quick visit to our ever friendly and inviting fridge, and there it goes, 5 innocent looking ngredients that if combined  will make a gorgeous and lovely looking meal plus a happy tummy!.. its my so called grilled spinach and tuna sandwich!:)

in case u wanna try my recipe, here it goes..all u need is just

2 pieces of bread
a slice of cheese
some good-looking spinach leaves

a tablespoon of butter for grilling( its a margarine, my best butter substitute;>)

..and some left over tuna

there u go, with all the ing ready..just keat a pan, melt the butter in it, brown- light brown only- the bread on both sides, then layer the remaining ingredients on the bread starting with the cheese, a spoonful of tuna and the greens, put it into grill again until bothe sides of the sandwich turs golden brown, just allowing the cheese to melt and the spinach to soften a little bit..

and here's the finished product now..

just sprinkle some ground black pepper for added effect.. so who doesnt want to have a bite of that good looking fella over there??:) its so tasty and juicy that even if you wanna ask for more just half of it would already make u so full u wanna burp!, lol..

but seriously who wouldnt want to have this healthy and easy to cook lunch?? you'll already get all the necessary nutrients your body needs. a good protein and omega 3 from the tuna, calcium from the cheese, right amount of carbs and grains from the multi-grain bread, healthy oil from the margarine, vitK and A from the spinach, and complete vitC from the orange juice that serves as my drink..:)

creamy and gooey indulgence!

there are two things that i like about being bored..first is that i can only get away with it through food (altough i hate it sometimes especially if im on a so called "diet")  and second is that when i get tired of "foods", i cook, hmm not cook but bake just to kill time..which means that today is another boring day and therefore i baked a good stuff.

it started when i was just lying in my bed thinking of sumthing to do, then i rummaged my shelf and found this peice of paper which literally doesnt belong to me and was about to throw it on my plastic garbage bag, as i was about to crumple it i flipped it to the other side and found this list of ingredients inorderly written, then i remembered, this was the recipe i wrote while watching food channel or maybe rachel ray but that i can no longer remember. so i quickly go downstairs and check if all the ingredinets are present, and there they are silently sitting on the fridge as if waiting for someone to grab and make use of them..

the paper just says all the ingredients and a few notes on how to make it, but growing up watching my mom bake goodies and also learning how to do it at an early age, even f it doesnt exactly says how to do it it was just " chicken" to me. the fact that i separated writing a bunch of ingredients only means that they need to be handled and done separately..

so after around 45mins here's my finished product.. it just smells heavenly and tastes YUM!..

doesnt it look so yummy??.. btw i dunno what its called since the recipe is incomplete so therefore i call it now "my very own cream cheese swirl brownie"..lol:))

my infamous organic chocolate cupcake with vanilla ice cream and caramel on top..yum yum! i was craving for sweet one lazy afternoon and i dont feel like eating chocolates, so i rummage through the fridge and found this left over cupcake, but then i thought it was so plain and boring, so i added vanilla ice cream on top and since caramel sauce is one of my fave dessert toppings ever i squished some on top and voila! ive created my very own dessert. never mind the calories it will give me, it was just so heaven, yum!:P

dowtown walk

so last week it was march break,(well students' march break and not for us)..moday me and the kids just stayed at home, played some games and just ended the day doin our own stuff.

tuesday was the kids cooking lesson day, i thought of bringing my cam so i could take a pic of the kids doin some kitchen stuff but unfortunately you cant go inside the  classroom and i had to wait for three hours outside, good thing i brought a book with me which i devoured for the three boring hours while constantly peeking through the glass door of the swimming of the building.three hours passed which feels like forever and te only thing the the kids learn was to bake muffin and bake some egg which they wont even eat all the ingredients they have incorporated in that so called egg thingy.

wednesday was another 'home day' because the kids were so lazy to wake up early in the morning as we are supposed to go with their mom to downtown toronto to see some galleries and do kids stuff.

thursday was our 'toronto day', so we were able to wake up so early in the morning, got dressed and we were dropped off at meadowvale go station and took the o train down to toronto. it was my first time to ride the train and the experience was merely ok. its this double deck train that looks so boring outside but when you go inside it was like riding a plane. it was like one of the trains i saw in a british movie minus the sleek and class feel. and so we headed to toronto, breakfast was mcdonalds, then we waited for ate nina's sis-in law and then off we go to arts gallery of ontario ( i dont know where exactly it is located) coz we just walked across the chilly streets of downtown toronto. i was so excited to go to the gallery because i brought with me my cam only to be disappointed to know that i wont be allowed to take pictures, so we just went to have a peak at their "maharadja exhibit", which i dont even understood because the kids get bored and we were forced to leave the gallery regretting the $22 each that me and ate sharon paid, it didnt even lasted for 15 mins. so we headed to walk and find some fancy resto to eat 'real food'. walked down across queen st.( saw cp24's building) and decided to eat in a korean barbecue house, and here are some of our pics..:)

i had so much fun with this lunch and indeed it was a sumptous 'real food':)

and so after lunch it was another walkathon. we cant decide where to go next since it was just 1 pm when we finished lunch. we tried going to a bookstore and checked out the movei house but that didnt worked out for the kids, they were always bored!, what the heck!?, we cant think of anything else to go and i was already complaining of tiredness from hours of walking so we decided to take the street car to lake shore, took a walk near the lake, snap some photo and headed to a foodcourt inside a small mall. here's some of our pix

kids..

its so funny how kids talk about love and all those things..my "alaga's" were just back from school and was on the dining table eating their left over lunch, vanessa came to play( kate"s classmate& our neighboor). danika was talking about the valentines dance they have at school today, how she felt sorry for this other boy who just lives in our neighboorhood, said she felt sorry because this boy wants to ask her classmate to dance but then she saw the girl dancing with her date for that day and the boy felt so depressed that even on our way home he was waling alone and was so quiet. then all of the sudden vanessa interrupts and said that she knows that this boy-javier- was rily inlove or had a crush with danika's classmate..and this was what i overheard
vanessa- i knew danika, because one time at the park we were talking about love and marriage and then javier told us that he really likes rachel..
lols..:)) i was sitting on the sofa next to our dining room and i cant help laughing because its rily so funny how she said 'love and marriage' as if she's an adult..:))kids!sigh..they never fail to amaze u, sometimes make u mad and most of the time they always make u laugh..i may not be a kid lover but i was once a child and im sure there are people who can still remember how silly i was..:)makes me mis my old childhood days..:(
